Echo’s History
Backpack Duster
On 8 September 1947 Kyoritsu Noki Company Ltd. is founded and invented the revolutionary manual duster for pest control and a new power duster-fogger are introduced.
Following the Second World War, due to food shortages across Japan required a huge improvement in agricultural processes. Hand-crank powered spreaders used for transmitting chemicals to crops was created to increase the efficiency of farms and alleviate famine. know as the ST1 Knapsack Duster.
Backpack Power Duster/Mist Blower
In 1955 the DM-Series of backpack blower misting and dusting units opened a new era in pest control.
The 1960’s introduced the Backpack Brushcutter
This was the first Kyoritsu brushcutter (Power Scythe) is developed.
ECHO’s The first ever chain saw the CS-80 was released in 1963. This was the first model featuring the “ECHO” name.1966
Straight Shaft Brushcutter
1966 saw the introduction of a new shoulder type straight shaft brushcutter (Swing Scythe)
In 1970 due to a drought, a group of Californian landscapers modified the DM-9 backpack sprayer unit, removing the liquid tank and sealing the hole. They used this modified unit to blow powerful bursts of air and clear grass clippings and leaves from the pavement. -This, in turn, created the first ever power blowers. ECHO’s engineers went out to California, and in that year, launched the PB-9; the first-ever power blower.
The oil crisis of 1973, people had to use firewood to heat their homes. This created a demand for a small and affordable chainsaw. Echo introduced the CS-302 echo chain saw and it was exactly what the market required. And rose to be a world-renowned chainsaw with a production lifespan of 20 years.

In 1981 the twin cylinder opposed chain saw is introduced.
Curved Shaft Power Edger
The curved shaft power edger was introduced in 1990
The Echo Shred ‘n’ Vac was released 1992, an innovative product for blowing, vacuuming and shredding leaves.
i-start
The turn of the millenium saw echo introdce i-start technology to b rushcutters and power sprayers
in 2001, i-start wins Gold award at Urbavert 2001, France.
Rapid-Loader Trimmer Head
2002 Echo invented the Rapid-Loader trimmer head with the revolutionary quick-loading system.
