Echo’s History

Backpack Duster

On 8 September 1947 Kyoritsu Noki Company Ltd. is founded and invented the revolutionary manual duster for pest control and a new power duster-fogger are introduced.

Following the Second World War, due to food shortages across Japan required a huge improvement in agricultural processes. Hand-crank powered spreaders used for transmitting chemicals to crops was created to increase the efficiency of farms and alleviate famine. know as the ST1 Knapsack Duster.

Backpack Power Duster/Mist Blower

In 1955 the DM-Series of backpack blower misting and dusting units opened a new era in pest control.

The 1960’s introduced the Backpack Brushcutter

This was the first Kyoritsu brushcutter (Power Scythe) is developed.

ECHO’s The first ever chain saw the CS-80 was released in 1963. This was the first model featuring the “ECHO” name.1966

Straight Shaft Brushcutter

1966 saw the introduction of a new shoulder type straight shaft brushcutter (Swing Scythe)

In 1970 due to a drought, a group of Californian landscapers modified the DM-9 backpack sprayer unit, removing the liquid tank and sealing the hole. They used this modified unit to blow powerful bursts of air and clear grass clippings and leaves from the pavement. -This, in turn, created the first ever power blowers. ECHO’s engineers went out to California, and in that year, launched the PB-9; the first-ever power blower.

The oil crisis of 1973, people had to use firewood to heat their homes. This created a demand for a small and affordable chainsaw. Echo introduced the CS-302 echo chain saw and it was exactly what the market required. And rose to be a world-renowned chainsaw with a production lifespan of 20 years.

In 1981 the twin cylinder opposed chain saw is introduced.

Curved Shaft Power Edger

The curved shaft power edger was introduced in 1990

The Echo Shred ‘n’ Vac was released 1992, an innovative product for blowing, vacuuming and shredding leaves.

i-start

The turn of the millenium saw echo introdce i-start technology to b rushcutters and power sprayers

in 2001, i-start wins Gold award at Urbavert 2001, France.

Rapid-Loader Trimmer Head

2002 Echo invented the Rapid-Loader trimmer head with the revolutionary quick-loading system.

Have you noticed how cold its been lately? Especially in the mornings. In fact the average long term temperature for august is 8.0°C the average for august this year has been a whopping is 7.7°C What both more interesting and concerning is the lack of rainfall we should expect about 376mm for the year yet we have only received 252mm a massive shortfall of over 100ml. So? How does this affect me? You may ask. Well what will be interesting to watch while everything appears green its from cold variety winter grass and weeds. With the colder days it’s going to take longer for our summer lawns to wake up and if the rainfall doesn’t increase significantly, we are going to see a long hard summer of watering ahead of us.

I’m planning to plant a new lawn this year what does this mean for me?

Good question

Well if your planning  in planting turf it doesn’t mean a lot as you can prepare your area and lay it virtually any time of the year and it will sit dormant until the soil temperature get to approximately 15° and then it will start growing and throwing down roots. If your planning on growing your lawn from seed your probably best to wait a bit longer as most lawn seeds germinate between 15-25° check with your seed supplier as to what temperatures is best for your seed. So, with this in mind it will be worth keeping an eye on the soil temp and look to plant mid to late September once it starts to warm up a little.

What about lawn reno’s / scarifying?

Well the same rules apply; you need to wait for it to start to grow and come out of its dormant state before you get into that lawn renovation to achieve the best results of rejuvenation.

What about fertilizer?

Fertilizer will have very little of no effect on a dormant lawn so its best again to wait for it to warm up a little more before application. That said we have seen success in slow growing and dormant lawns with the use of kelp and high iron products in holding a green colour.

The mower must be returned at the purchaser’s expense to the Dealer it was originally purchased from. The mower must be returned no later than 30 days after the date of purchase. The proof of purchase (invoice / receipt) needs to be presented when returning the mower. All items listed on the packing list in the user manual of the mower must be returned. If the mower was purchased as a KIT, the original battery and charger must be returned with the mower. The returned mower can have signs of being used, but needs to be clean, free of debris, stains and markings. If the mower or any of the items supplied are returned damaged, missing, or in an unusable and/or poor condition (manufacturing defects excluded), the authorised Dealer may refuse a refund. If the mower has been purchased as part of a promotion all parts received in the promotionmust be returned in their original condition.The refund excludes any postage, handling or transportation costs.
